Marie, Michigan Date & Place of Death: Monday April 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving Family, after a yearlong battle with stomach cancer. Date & Place of Birth: September 26, 1932 Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan Hobbies/Interests/Memberships: After his retirement from the Sault Ste. Marie street Department Joe went to work helping his son Jay at Weber''s Floral in the Sault, St. Ignace and on Mackinac Island. He loved working with the flowers and people. He enjoyed many summers of caring for the beautiful hanging baskets on Mackinac Island''s main street and took great pride in their beauty. While undergoing treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital Joe was able to enjoy his stay with his 2 daughters and their families in Virginia. There he enjoyed wine tasting at the area''s many vineyards, polo matches and time at the race track. He was also happy to help his son-in-law Chuck with his new vegetable garden. Joe also spent many hours with the grandchildren, that he was so proud of. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the National Guard.
