Linda Louise Orr

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Linda Louise Orr of Moran, Michigan. She passed away at the age of 85, on March 12, 2025, in St. Ignace, Michigan. Linda was born on August 30, 1939, to Lawrence and Bernetta (Burton) Soeltner in Moran, Michigan. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Linda grew up in Moran, Michigan and had graduated from LaSalle High school. After high school Linda had many jobs, but they all were in some way taking care of others, which she had loved to do. She had worked at a restaurant where she had met the love of her life, Charles David Orr and they married on April 19, 1958. Linda had worked as a bartender, then got a job at community action for several years before she found her passion; working at Souvenir Barn for the Eby family as a clerk for over thirty years before retiring in 2020. Linda lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for baking, and her homemade dishes were always the highlight of family gatherings. She enjoyed reading books, solving crossword puzzles, and knitting in her free time. Linda was very kind and a generous soul, always putting others needs before her own; such as taking care of many kids. Her love and compassion to all those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm personality. Linda is survived by her children, William (Tabatha) Orr of Moran, Charles David Orr Jr. of Moran, Melissa Orr of Moran, Sandy (Greg) Kottre of Port Orchard, WA, Donald (Denise) Orr of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, James (Caroline) Orr of Sault Ste. Marie, Holly (Tammy) Downing of Kinross, Michigan, Michelle (Dave) Oja of Rudyard, Michigan, and Nicole (Lee) Anderson of Dafter, Michigan; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Patricia (Mckenzie) Soeltner of Rudyard, and Mary Jeanette Orr of Ypsilanti, Michigan. Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Charles Orr; parents, Lawrence and Bernetta Soeltner; brothers, Thomas Soeltner and Richard “Dick” Soeltner; sisters, Bernadette (Jean) Sheber and Jo Ann Schimt; grandchildren, Adam James Patton, Mary Dawn LaVake, Lola Sue James Orr, and Olivia Theresa Kottre; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. A Memorial Gathering will be held May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, W1934 Church Rd, Moran, Michigan, 49760 with a Celebration of Life to follow. Memorial Contributions can be made in Linda’s honor to Straits Area Community Center, 255 S. Airport Rd, St Ignace, Michigan, 49781.
