Margaret Grace Meade

Margaret 'Margy' Caron Meade, 69, of St. Ignace, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Evergreen Living Center with her family by her side. She was born in Hinsdale, Illinois, August 5, 1953, to Amos and Helen (nee Murphy) Caron. Mrs. Meade graduated from Preble High School in Green Bay, Wisconsin, attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and graduated from Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois, with a degree in horticulture. She met the love of her life, Mark, in 1977. They were married August 30, 1980, in the gardens of the Ellwood Mansion in DeKalb, Illinois. Pursuing their love of nature and the great outdoors, they moved to the wooded countryside of Ridgeway, Wisconsin in 1981. In 1985 Margaret gave birth to their son, Cullen, the joy of her life. Mrs. Meade worked as a florist, made and exhibited Old World Santas at art fairs, and was the owner/operator of Happy Tails Boarding Kennel for 17 years. Retiring in 2014, Margaret and Mark moved to St. Ignace, having fallen in love with the Great Lakes region during vacations. She so enjoyed watching the sandhill cranes, great blue herons, great white egrets, and bald eagles that visited the shoreline of her home. Margaret was an avid reader and a dedicated researcher of her family's ancestry. She had a creative mind, being a painter of landscapes and seascapes, a writer of poetry, and a player of cello and piano. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Meade is survived by her son Cullen (Savanna Connor) Meade of Arizona, sisters Cecilia (Thomas Erb) Caron and Mary (Richard) Stevens of Wisconsin, brothers Paul (Sylvia) Caron of Colorado and David (Rebecca) Caron of New Mexico, brother-in-law Neil (Sally Schlise) Fullan of Wisconsin, sister-in-law Cyndi (David) Hagenbuch of Illinois, brother-in-law Larry (Jackie) Stevenson of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Barbara Caron, Theresa Caron, Kathleen Fullan, niece Sandra Caron, and nephew Donald Erb. Cremains will be placed at Lakeside Cemetery in summer 2023. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret may be made to Evergreen Activities Department, 1140 N.
