Mary Louise (Warner) Guild

Mary Louise (Warner) Guild, age 60, of Raber, Michigan, died peacefully following a long, courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, June 3, 2018 in Petoskey, Michigan. She was surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on September 13, 1957, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to Parley Edward and Cecelia Mary (Dumback) Warner. Mary spent most of her life in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. A superhero of sorts who could handle anything life threw at her, Mary was known to do things like fix the dryer or the lawn mower, then sit down and give herself a manicure. Mary adored her family and traveled all over to spend time with them. She visited Germany, Texas, Hawaii and other destinations around the world. Through the years, Mary enjoyed attending sporting and school events to watch her kids. In recent years she enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s events. She looked forward to the times she was able to visit with her children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mary especially loved the summer months when she could spend time outside tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, mowing grass, and walking with her dog along the lake in search of driftwood for craft projects. Mary spent nearly 30 years serving her community through her work at the Post Office. She also worked part time helping out at local restaurants and resorts. Mary will be missed by many. None more so than her three children who are proud to have been raised by such a strong, kind, hardworking, forthright woman. Her legacy will live on through them and her eight grandchildren. Mary is survived by her son, Norman (Marci) Guild of Goetzville, Michigan; daughters, Kristin (Derek) Young of Livonia, Michigan, Sarah (Bryce) Harrison of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Kennedy, Finley, Addison, Liam, Keegan, Avery, Graham and Henry; brothers, Roger (Brenda) Warner, Norman (Betsy) Warner, Richard Warner, Charles (Jill) Warner; sisters, Patricia Pontbriand, Darlene (Ken) Sieradski, and Linda Bunner. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lawrence Warner, Ashley Warner, and Harvey Warner; and brother in law, Norman Pontbriand. Services will be held beginning with Visiting Hours Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 12:00 Noon at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 12841 E. Traynor Road in Goetzville.
