Peggy Lee Ringuette

Peggy Lee Ringuette (Visnaw), age 64, of Sault Ste Marie Michigan, formerly of Cedarville, Michigan, passed on from this life on the morning on December 17, 2022, at Hearthside Assisted living, with her children by her side. She was born in Cedarville on March 4, 1958, to Thomas and Pearl (Henderson) Visnaw. Peggy lived in Sault Ste Marie for most of her life. She worked for the Porthole saloon and The Merch bartending for over fifteen years, where her patrons lovingly called her “PeggyPoo”. She had a way with people and made many friends over the years; she was loved by many people. Peggy was a member of The Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Peggy enjoyed trying her luck at the casino and also loved working there as a housekeeper. She was a fan of the Detroit Red Wings Hockey and catch the game on TV. Most of all, Peggy really loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Whenever she was able, you could catch Peggy at her grandkid’s school events to support them. Peggy is survived by her three beloved daughters; Jessica (Michael) Smith of Kincheloe, Michigan, Theresa Ringuette of Kincheloe, and Jodi (Alf) Hoglund of Sault Ste Marie; her grandchildren, Joseph (Sam) Smith, Michael Smith Jr., Aliyah Smith, Derek Bouschor, Alexis Bouschor, Jeremy Snider (Jr.), Katie Snider, Adrianna, and Evan Hoglund; Great Aunt, Susan Henderson; brothers, John D Visnaw (Treetop), and Thomas W Visnaw Jr.; sister, Mary Jane Roberts (Visnaw), as well as her many nieces and nephews. Peggy is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas W. Visnaw Jr.; Father of her children & ex-husband, Joseph R. Ringuette; and her parents, Pearl and Thomas D Visnaw. Tribal services for Peggy will be held at the Sault Tribe Cultural Center, 1 Ice Circle Chi Mukwa, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 12 PM until 8 PM; Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 10 AM. Interment will be at Oakland Chapel Gardens in Sault Ste. Marie, in the Spring of 2023.
