Scott Alexander Hill

Surrounded by his family, Scott Alexander Hill went home to his Lord and Savior on June 29, 2026. Scott was born on April 22, 1968, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to George E. and Anna (Kropp) Hill. Scott grew up on the family dairy farm in Dafter, Michigan, where he spent much of his time, even later in his life. He graduated from Brimley High School with the Class of 1986. On June 20, 1987, he married the love of his life, Terri. Together they shared thirty-nine years of marriage and raised four children in Brimley, Michigan. Scott loved his wife, Terri. Together they built a life that they loved, surrounded by the children that they raised. Every night for many years, they sat their family down together, gave thanks to Jesus for their dinner, and shared stories from the day. His family needed to know where he had been, whose tire he changed, and what size it was! In their empty-nest days, they continued to love on their children and eventually grandchildren. Theirs was a loving marriage that their children could strive to model after. Always holding hands, they wanted to be an old couple that everyone knew actually still liked each other. You didn’t have to be around him too long to know, he loved his wife dearly. Scott loved his family. Affectionately known as Dad to his children and Papa to his grandchildren, he rarely missed an event and could always be counted on to help with whatever was needed, whenever, and wherever. The coffee was always on, along with a listening ear for his kids. He was always willing to help his grandchildren with whatever big idea they’d worked up. Whether it was helping the King kids haul 4-H animals, building pens, chasing sheep, haltering steers, facetiming Haven to hear about her day, or listening to Weston talk about his dinosaurs! He loved Owen and Avalyn and loved watching them play basketball, dance, or whatever activity he could make it to. He could always be counted on to share words of wisdom with his children, regardless of the situation. Scott loves Jesus, he was a deacon and an active member of Fundamental Baptist Church for over forty-three years. He was instrumental in starting Maplewood Baptist Academy and served as the President of the School Advisory Committee for many years. He and Terri worked in the nursery for the Sunday School hour every week for over twenty years, hoping to provide familiar faces to the babies and toddlers. Today he is praising Jesus in Heaven, probably with the southern gospel music he loved so much. Scott loved to farm. You could always find him out in some field, haying, checking on cows, enjoying the county fair, or just taking care of his land. Justus was his farming partner, and together they planned and schemed about the years of farming ahead of them. He was an active member and board member of the Chippewa County Farm Bureau for many years, where he made many lifelong friends among the local farming community. Most recently, he was the membership chair, where he helped bring new members to the Farm Bureau family. He recently convinced his son-in-law, Brandon, to join. He made sure to tell everyone he was currently “just a chicken farmer” but he would eventually grow into more animals. Scott loved life. He could always be counted on to bring a laugh, shed a tear, or share a story from his day. He loved people, and he counted many people as friends. His work at UP Tire gave him the opportunity to take care of people in their time of need. Day or night, he could be called on to help farmers, truck drivers, neighbors, or total strangers get back on the road. Scott is survived by his wife, Theresa “Terri”; children, Jillian (Brandon) Tomkinson, Jared (Megan Alandt) Hill, Jason (Courtney) Hill, and Justus (Peyton Leask) Hill; mother-in-law, Betty Bragg; grandchildren, Clay King, Callie King, Liza King, Harper King, Owen Pratt, Avalyn Pratt, Haven Hill, and Weston Hill; sister, Sheryl (Scott) Runkle; brother-in-law, James (Tammi) Bragg; nieces and nephews, Anne Ellis, Michelle Ellis, Justin Romano, Alicia Waybrant, Jean-Luc Runkle, Rena Woody, Ryan Bragg, Amber Wagner, Asia Bragg, and Hayley Bragg; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna; father-in-law, William “Jimbo” Bragg; brother and sister-in-law, George (Pam) Hill Jr.; and niece, Sara McIlroy. Scott will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we know that he is in Heaven with those who went before him, and that he’s waiting there for us. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the Fundamental Baptist Church, 3255 W. M-80, Kinross, MI 49752. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM with the burial and luncheon to follow. Scott’s final resting place will be Lakeview Cemetery in Kinross, Michigan.
